Political Speech: The Keepers of the Constitutional Republic
by The Board of Directors

As the story goes, after the signing of the US Constitution, Benjamin Franklin was descending the stairs of Independence Hall where the Constitutional Convention had ended when he was asked, “Mr. Franklin, What have you given us?” Ben was reputed to have said, “A republic, if we can keep it.” How insightful. Seven simple words that described the historic reality of the fate of the many republics that had come before America’s new republic and quite possibly seven prescient words that may be reflective of America’s current state of political evolution.
